Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VWCV) has delivered the first tranche of five custom all-electric ID.Buzz Cargo vans to the Miele appliance brand for use by its customer service team.
Miele has used Volkswagen Commercials for its customer service operations since the first generation of T1 Transporter. It is now choosing the ID. Buzz Cargo for sustainable mobility.
VWCV chief executive Carsten Intra and marketing and sales board member Lars Krause, handed over the vehicles to the Miele management. Miele is one of the first VWCV customers to receive the ID. Buzz Cargo for its fleet.
The first tranche of Miele ID.Buzz customer service vehicles will be used in Germany, Spain, Norway, Great Britain and Austria.
As well as painting the ID.Buzz Cargo in Miele’s proprietary shade of Red, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and Würth collaborated with the appliance manufacturer to jointly develop and create a customised internal fitout for the customer service vehicles.
The Miele ID.Buzz Cargo service vehicles have factory-installed shelving systems designed to meet the service employees requirements to safely stow materials, replacement parts and tools.
A centre console with an integrated folding table serves as the driver’s work station.
The vehicles which are now being put into service in Europe will be the test bed for future optimisation of the product and the further electrification of the Miele service fleet.
Intra says it is pleasing to see customers such as Miele taking delivery of the ID.Buzz Cargo.
“For a long-term partner like Miele, who has been using our vans as its service vehicles practically from the start, we wanted to personally present these first five ID. Buzz Cargo vehicles,” Intra says.
“Our strategy is to offer the right vehicle for everyone,” Krause says.
Miele is one of the first customers we are supplying with the ID. Buzz. We are doing this to show that the ID. Buzz Cargo is a fully-fledged service vehicle,” he says.
“The ID. Buzz offers a good overall package that is suited to the specific requirements of our customer service technicians,” Miele marketing and sales executive director Axel Kniehl says.
Using the all-electric transporters from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Miele is taking another step towards converting its entire fleet to renewable energy sources.
“We set a goal of reducing the CO2 emissions of our vehicle fleet by at least 30% by 2030,” Miele human resources and corporate affairs director Rebecca Steinhage says.
“The all-electric ID. Buzz is a great choice for our fleet, and we are already looking forward to receiving more next year,” she says.
Krause says the partnership are also looking at digital services which could further optimise the Miele logistics chain and the possibility of autonomously driven VW transporters for future applications.
