The Volkswagen electric ID.4 and ID.5 Pro and Pro+ models will cost from about $79,990 to $89,990 drive away plus on-roads (and 12-month registration and warrant of fitness) and $85,490 to $94,490 respectively.
The ID.4 SUV’s base $79,990 price is below the Clean Car Discount (rebate) $80,000 threshold, says Volkswagen New Zealand in releasing pricing and specs for both.
The models all have a 77kWh battery, a claimed 485km range (WLTP) and include150kW of power and 310Nm torque. They also have ‘instant power’, aerodynamic 19-inch Hamar alloy wheels, 10-inch colour touch screen and an ID. exclusive “Twist & Go” ignition function.
In addition to the main features of PRO, the ID.4 PRO+ also includes ‘IQ. Light’ Matrix LED headlights with front LED light bar, 12-inch ‘Discover Max’ colour touch screen and Premium sound system.
“Whether you opt for the pure SUV body shape of the ID.4 or the ultra-aerodynamic silhouette coupé design of ID.5, your next Volkswagen is truly electrified,” says Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles general manager Greg Leet.
Volkswagen is inviting anyone in Auckland between Wednesday September 21 and Tuesday October 4 to the Volkswagen ID. experience at the pop-up ‘Car Store’ on Level 1 in Westfield Newmarket, to view and possibly take a test drive before the ID.4 and ID.5 arrives in the country next year.

“We believe our model line-up positions us extremely well within the EV market segment,” says Leet.
He says to launch the mid-sized ID.4 SUV below the New Zealand Government’s Clean Car rebate $80,000 threshold was imperative.
“We believe this will be very important in helping to support our customers that choose to transition to an electrified Volkswagen.”
Leet says it’s a milestone moment for the brand.
“New Zealand will be one of the first countries outside of Europe and the USA to launch the ID. range.”
The ID.5 silhouette (coupé merged with an SUV) has been given a sporty exterior treatment with two-tone colours and inside features the 12-inch ‘Discover Max’ colour touch screen (standard on PRO and PRO+) and Premium sound system (exclusive to PRO+ which also features ID. exclusive 20-inch ‘Drammen’ alloys.
