The new Renault Megane E-Tech battery electric vehicle (BEV) has received a five-star safety rating from the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP).
It scored 85% in adult occupant protection and 88% on child occupant protection thanks to its highly protective structure equipped with seven airbags. The score for vulnerable road user is 65% while safety assist reached 79%.
In addition to the elements assessed by Euro NCAP, as part of an effort to offer uncompromising safety the new Megane E-Tech BEV also includes the Fireman Access innovation born of a more than 10-year partnership between Renault Group and French firefighters.
A windscreen QR code is intended for rescue teams who, by scanning it when responding to an accident, can very quickly recognise that it is a BEV. It also gives them access to the car’s structural information (battery and airbag locations, places for quick and risk-free cutting), which means they can save up to 15 minutes in extracting a possible crash victim.
More generally, ensuring the safety of customers on the roads as well as employees in the workplace is one of the three major pillars (along with the ecological transition and inclusion) of Renault Group’s Sustainable Development policy (CSR) being implemented as part of its Renaulution strategy.
