Skoda Superb iV plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) will be tested by police during July with the possibility of swapping the PHEV for the new petrol Superb station wagon.
Skoda began shipping its first hybrid EVs into New Zealand this week with Skoda marketing manager Natalie O’Brien confirming it is bringing its new Superb iV PHEVs here in time for a media launch next week, Stuff reports.
Police have previously said they will trial electric and hybrid technology when available after announcing 3000 Skoda Superb station wagons, which at that stage were fossil fuel only, would replace Holden patrol cars.
The Skoda Superb PHEV with 13kWh battery is listed by Skoda as having 62km electric range and a 930km combined range.
It is priced under the $80,000 Clean Car Discount threshold which qualifies it for the $5750 new PHEV rebate and the Superb also has a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating.
