The Giltrap Group is displaying one of only two Polestar 6 concept vehicles at The Car Store in Newmarket, and says that production vehicles for customers are due to arrive in 2026.
Year-to-date Polestar has retailed 874 electric vehicles locally, and brand manager Bruce Fowler says the figure would have been higher if not for an extended production shutdown due to the pandemic in China.
The Polestar 6 will be an electric roadster hardtop. The Sky Blue vehicle on display at The Car Store in Westfield Newmarket was displayed by the brand at Pebble Beach, California, during the Monterey Car Week earlier in 2022.
The concept vehicle has made its way from the United States to New Zealand via Australia, and its next destination will be Singapore.
Built on Polestar’s bespoke bonded aluminium platform, developed by Polestar R&D UK, it will boast an output of up to 650 kW (884 hp) and 900 Nm from a dual motor powertrain, a targeted 0-100 km/h sprint time of 3.2 seconds, and a top speed of 250 km/h.
This is made possible through the same high-performance, 800-volt electric architecture already confirmed for the Polestar 5.
“Since its reveal in Los Angeles earlier this year, the electric roadster has won the hearts and minds of many,” Giltrap Group communications general manager Shaun Summerfield says.
“We are confident that New Zealand drivers will be equally thrilled about a new form of open-top electric performance and aerospace-inspired design,” he says.
