First shipments of the GWM Ora EV are expected here in April, with orders now being taken.
Three models are due – the Ora Standard Range with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $49,990 (plus on-road costs), the Ora Long Range ($55,990) and the Ora GT ($60,990).
The GT model will be available later than the other two Ora models, with timing yet to be confirmed.
GWM’s first EV is already being produced for New Zealand, the new model known as the Ora Good Cat or Ora Funky Cat in some other markets, named the GWM Ora for New Zealand and Australian markets.
It’s available here in two battery options – a 48kWh battery offering 310km range (WLTP) and a 63kWh battery with an estimated 420km range.
Charging from 10% capacity to 80% is possible in 41 minutes on the 48kWh option.
The GWM Ora produces 126kW of power and 250Nm torque, which can be delivered through a one pedal driving mode, providing instant performance whenever needed.
It is 4.235 metres long, 1.603m high and 1.825m wide, with ample space for passengers, front and rear. The wheelbase is 2.650m.
The GWM Ora comes with a wide range of features for maximum comfort and convenience, while almost every conceivable safety aspect is standard across the Ora range.
It has a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating and has just gained a five-star Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) rating for New Zealand and Australia.
“Solid performance across the board makes the GWM Ora the only battery electric powered car in the Small Car segment to hold a five-star ANCAP safety rating against the 2020-2022 test criteria,” says ANCAP chief executive Carla Hoorweg.
While battery size and range is the only difference between the Ora Standard Range and the Ora Long Range, the GT takes different exterior styling cues including exclusive 18-inch GT alloy wheels, GT bumpers and grille and red brake calipers to set it apart.
