Mitsubishi Motors New Zealand Limited (MMNZ) has confirmed the launch pricing for the next generation Outlander SUV plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) which will arrive in dealerships early next year.
The five-seat Outlander LS PHEV will be offered at a special launch price of $59,990 plus on-road costs (RRP $69,900), or $54,240 plus on-road costs after application of the Clean Car Discount.
The seven-seat mid-range Outlander XLS PHEV has a recommended retail price of $75,990 plus on-road costs and the top-of-the-range Outlander VRX PHEV has a recommended retail price of $79,990 plus on-road costs.
“The PHEV concept remains one of the most viable options available for environmentally conscious motorists, especially in tandem with the Clean Car Discount. MMNZ head of marketing and corporate affairs Reece Congdon says.
“We firmly believe the next generation Outlander PHEV will prove an even bigger hit and we are encouraged by the response to our online pre-order platform, launched in October, through which we have sold more than 100 units before the vehicle’s arrival next year.”
MMNZ says the EV range of the next generation Outlander has been extended by 52% to 84km, and it has 45% more battery capacity than the previous model. With a full tank, which is 24% larger at 56L, the combined driving range is more than 50% further than the previous model.
Upgrades to the front and rear motors have resulted in 185kW maximum output (up from 130kW) with a 450Nm of torque (up from 332Nm) for more powerful, efficient performance.
The LS is equipped with dual zone climate control, a reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors and a 9-inch smartphone-link display audio screen, while the XLS offers seven seats, black synthetic leather upholstery, smartphone wireless charging and three zone automatic climate control.
The VRX comes equipped with memory leather seats, a Bose sound system with nine speakers, 1500w AC power outlets, Multi-Around View Mirror, a kick tailgate and a 10.8-inch head-up dash display.
Pre-orders are now available from the Mitsubishi Motors New Zealand website.
