The refreshed 2024 Mazda CX-30 range arriving in dealerships this month is bolstered by the addition of a new SP25 variant, in addition to greater levels of standard equipment across the line-up.
Traditionally SP models from Mazda have offered higher capacity engines matched to enhanced equipment levels.
First seen on the Mazda 323 Sporthatch SP20 in 2001, three generations of Mazda3 have worn the SP23 and SP25 insignia up to 2019. More recently the SP20 name has been applied to both Mazda3 and Mazda CX-30, along with the Mazda CX-5 SP25T.
Mazda Motors of New Zealand says the 2024 CX-30 range now comprises two front-wheel drive and two all-wheel drive drivetrains, coupled with fuel-efficient petrol engines.
- Mazda CX-30 GSX SKYACTIV-G 2.0 front-wheel drive $43,390
- Mazda CX-30 SP25 SKYACTIV-G 2.5 front-wheel drive $45,990
- Mazda CX-30 Limited SKYACTIV-G 2.5 all-wheel drive $53,790
- Mazda CX-30 Takami e-SKYACTIV X M Hybrid 2.0 all-wheel-drive $57,790

The CX-30 GSX continues to offer value with high levels of technology and safety, and an updated petrol engine.
With cylinder deactivation, the new 2-litre SKYACTIV-G petrol engine maintains its outputs of 114 kW and 200 Nm. However, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions decreased to 7 l/100km and 163 g/km – a reduction of 4% in CO2 emissions compared to the 2023 Mazda CX-30 GSX.
Inside, all Mazda CX-30 grades are now equipped with USB-C connections in addition to wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The CX-30 SP25 combines Mazda’s SKYACTIV-G 2.5 litre petrol engine and front-wheel drive. The powertrain produces 139 kW and 252 Nm and achieves 7.3 l/100km and 171 g/km.
Design-wise, the Mazda CX-30 SP25 offers 18-inch alloy wheels finished in gloss black which provide a striking impact, particularly when paired with gloss black exterior mirrors, dark-tinted privacy glass on the rear windows, and black exterior accents.
The interior is emphasised with red accents for the sports cloth seat trim, and as per other Mazda CX-30 grades, a colour head-up display features along with an instrument panel incorporating a 7-inch TFT display.
The Mazda CX-30 Limited adds another layer of luxury and refinement to the range. Identified by its glass sunroof and adaptive LED headlights, silver metallic 18-inch alloy wheels complete the Limited’s high-quality exterior. The interior of the Limited grade continues to feature luxurious leather upholstery and a Bose 12-speaker audio system and adds Qi wireless mobile phone charging and a 10.25-inch central infotainment display.
Topping the Mazda CX-30 range, the Takami features the e-SKYACTIV-X M Hybrid engine. With its ability to burn petrol more efficiently thanks to Spark Controlled Compression Ignition (SPCCI), the CX-30 Takami makes more power yet produces fewer emissions than a comparable petrol engine.
As with all new Mazda vehicles, the Mazda CX-30 features wide-ranging coverage from the Mazdacare programme.
Mazdacare includes a five-year bumper-to-bumper warranty, five years of scheduled servicing (up to 100,000km) and five years of roadside assist coverage.
