Ford New Zealand has confirmed the limited edition high-specification Ranger Platinum will arrive in the market in May next year.
The Blue Oval says the Ranger Platinum meets the demand for a luxury product which is also a flexible work truck.
It is available exclusively in a five-seat double cab specification and is powered by Ford’s three-litre V6 turbodiesel engine, producing 184kW and 600Nm of torque. Power is delivered through the Ranger’s electronically controlled full-time four-wheel drive system, combined with Ford’s 10-speed automatic transmission.
Key exterior enhancements include a unique grille, 20-inch alloy wheels, ‘Platinum’ hood badging, Silk Chrome trims, Matrix LED headlamps, a damped tailgate, and Ford’s Flexible Rack System (FRS).
The Ranger Platinum will also be available in the Equinox Bronze paint colour, previously available only on Everest.
Inside the cabin the Ranger Platinum offers quilted leather accented seats and heated steering wheel. The front seats are heated and ventilated with 10-way power adjust and with memory function for the driver, while the 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster and decorative finishes add its sense of opulence.
The Platinum sets itself apart from other Ranger variants with its Everest-inspired dashboard which features a closed shelf and upper glovebox, while badging on front seats and floor mats round out the interior enhancements.
It will come standard with Ford’s Flexible Rack System (FRS) which consists of Folding Roof Racks and a first-to-market patent-pending Sliding Load Rack.
The roof racks feature crossbars that swing across the roof when needed, can be adjusted to two different lengths, and then stored away in the roof rails when not being used. The clever Sliding Load Rack can be operated by one person and locks into five different positions along the length of the load box. A pop-up crossbar increases the height of the loading platform to match the Folding Roof Racks.
The Ranger Platinum 3L V6 Turbo Diesel has a retail recommended price of $84,490. It will go into production as an MY23.50 model from April 2023, with first arrivals in May 2023.
