FleetPartners NZ will cease operating its AutoSelect retail sites and E-Tender wholesale channel at the end of September 2021.
The company says it is following the same simplification strategy as its Australian sibling by focusing on core operations such as leasing and fleet management while now outsourcing the re-marketing function of its ex-lease vehicles in New Zealand to Turners Auto Retail Division.
FleetPartners managing director Russell Webber says Turners has already been providing remarketing for a small proportion of its ex-lease vehicles and this move will help the company to focus solely on core business.
“As our customers are located all around the country, Turners are well placed to remarket our ex-lease vehicles through their 30 branches nationwide,” Webber says.
“We are confident that we offer the best solution for the remarketing of lease vehicles in NZ,” Turners Automotive Group chief executive Greg Hedgepeth says.
“We’ll continue to work hard to make sure we maximise FleetPartners remarketing results – in what we believe will be a long and profitable partnership for both organisations.”
FleetPartners NZ and Turners are working together to find opportunities around the country in which to redeploy affected staff members from the Auckland and Christchurch AutoSelect retail branches.
Webber told AutoTalk that for the foreseeable future FleetPartners NZ will retain its Forge Way Mount Wellington headquarters and there is a likely future sublet opportunity for the soon to be vacated Auckland AutoSelect dealership.
Webber says the dealership premises is completely separated to the main office and is also completely self-contained presenting a unique opportunity for a vehicle retail operation.
He says the company has received expressions of interest in the site previously from motor traders and anticipates that there will likely be more.
