Mazda Motor Corporation will unveil its new flagship the CX-90 SUV which is equipped with an inline six-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine in a world premiere on February 1.
The 3.3-litre inline six e-Skyactiv turbo made its global debut on the Mazda CX-60 SUV.
It has been specifically retuned for its application in the CX-90, and will offer the highest power output yet from a mass production petrol engine developed by Mazda, delivering 254 kW between 5000 and 6000rpm and 500 Nm of torque from 2000 to 4500rpm.
This equates to an additional 45 kW – or a near 22% uplift – in power compared to the CX-60.
Mazda says the CX-90 SUV also features a 48V mild-hybrid system for efficiency without compromising on performance.
This inline six turbo is developed specifically for the large platform – Mazda’s all-new rear-biased all-wheel drive layout that supports a performance-focused experience.
Additionally, Kinematic Posture Control (KPC), first introduced on the MX-5, is standard on all CX-90 models and will help maintain Mazda’s signature driving dynamics in the three-row crossover SUV according to the manufacturer.
