Downer New Zealand has supplied NZ Police with a fleet of Toyota Hilux 4×4 utes to help with cyclone recovery efforts in the Gisborne and Hawke’s Bay regions.
Posting on LinkedIn, NZ Police fleet services manager Brian Yanko says it came at a “crucial time” when police had exhausted their own supply of 4×4 vehicles to the emergency response.
Within 48 hours, 20 utes were getting ready for deployment to the affected areas. Fitout agents Wade Group assisted with the police livery application. Meanwhile, vehicle transporter Carr & Haslam responded to an urgent request and delivered 10 of the utes into the Hawke’s Bay on Tuesday.
“For the safety of our people, Downer also arranged that some of the utes will be fully trackable by satellite where no cellular is available and we have enabled some of the trucks with 200-litre fuel cells for emergency refuelling,” Yanko says.
