The BMW X3 xDrive30e plug-in hybrid (PHEV) arrives later this year to bolster BMW New Zealand’s electrified line-up, alongside the entire BMW X3 and X4 range.
It joins the BMW 225xe, 330e, 530e, 745e and X5 xDrive45e in the local PHEV line-up.
The BMW X3 xDrive30e offers 215kW combined output and provides up to 50km of electric range.
Extensive updates have been given to both the BMW X3 and X4, with pricing and specification to be announced prior to the launch.
The X3 xDrive30e combines a four-cylinder petrol engine and electric motor, transmitting power to all four wheels. Its combined output of 215kW can be increased by up to 30kW by temporary use of the electric motor’s peak output.
The M Sport package, which is fitted to the X3 xDrive30i and X3 xDrive30d as standard, emphasises the dynamic genes of BMW’s Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) concept. The range topping X3 M40i meanwhile prominently displays its strong links with the high performance BMW M stable.
In addition to the optional adaptive LED headlights with Matrix function, where the adverse weather light takes on the function of the previously separate fog lights, the BMW Laser Light system with a range of up to 650 metres is now also available as an optional extra.
The BMW X3 xDrive30e also bears an “electrified by i” emblem on the front wing, while an additional blue ring adorns all its BMW logos, including wheel hub covers.
The standard trim includes the new 19-inch Y-Spoke 887M alloy wheel in Midnight Grey Bicolor with 245/50 R19 tyres.
Additional wheels in 20-inch and 21-inch are available as an option, as well as the M Sport brake system with blue or red brake callipers.
