BMW electrified vehicle registrations were up 135% to 454 last year compared with 2021 as its New Zealand group shows impressive growth in electrified vehicle sales.
Registrations of Mini electrified models rose 88%, while fully electric BMW and Mini registrations were up 502% and 100% respectively amid the introduction of new models including the BMW i4 Gran Coupé and iX technology flagship, says BMW Group New Zealand.
It adds that notable growth was seen for BMW 530e and X5 xDrive45e plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models.
The Mini Countryman Hybrid and Electric Hatch had double digit percentage uptick, among registrations of electrified Minis rising from 257 vehicles in 2021 to 482 for the 2022 calendar year.
BMW New Zealand is also confirmed as the leading market in the Asia Pacific region for sales of electrified BMW vehicles in the overall model mix., Managing Director of BMW Group New Zealand, said
The results underline the BMW Group’s strategic model expansion while also reflecting a rapidly evolving automotive landscape, says BMW Group New Zealand managing director Adam Shaver.
“This impressive outcome emphasises the impact of our compelling – and expanding – line-up of electrified vehicles and again confirms that BMW Group New Zealand leads the way in volume of zero and low emissions vehicles in our region,” he adds.
“We also saw this growth in the same year the New Zealand government implemented forward-thinking policies to accelerate the adoption of electrified models and take important steps towards carbon neutrality – a move that has also undoubtedly played a role in changing customer mindsets.
